The full cost of getting licensed
- Pre-licensing course - set by the school you choose (not us).
- Exam fee - paid to the vendor each attempt.
- Fingerprints / background check - e.g., California lists $49.
- License fee - paid to the commission (e.g., Texas $206 total online, California $350).
- After licensing - brokerage, MLS and association dues vary widely.
Retakes cost money. Most vendors charge the full fee again for each attempt. One practice pass is cheaper than one retake in most states.
